Join us for the ABTA’s BT5k

Will you help us go GRAY in MAY for brain tumor/cancer awareness?

We will be participating in the BT5K Los Angeles Breakthrough for Brain Tumors Run & Walk, an inspiring and fun event benefiting the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA).

JOIN THE TEAM!
The more the merrier! We are inviting all our friends and family to join our team in support of the nearly 700,000 people across America currently living with a brain tumor diagnosis. The event will take place on Saturday, May 19, 2018, at USC at 8 am.

DONATE!
If you can’t make it to the BT5K Los Angeles on May 19, we invite you to please consider a donation to the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA).

Thank you in advance for your support of our efforts on behalf of brain tumor patients, their families, and the researchers pursuing the breakthroughs.

Love,

Wendy and Sally

P.S.  Following are some additional facts and figures in case you are interested.

Brain Tumor Facts:

· Nearly 80,000 new cases of primary brain tumors are expected to be diagnosed this year. Approximately one-third or 32% of brain and central nervous system (CNS) tumors are malignant.

· There are approximately 700,000 people in the U.S. living with a primary brain and CNS tumor.

· This year, more than 16,000 people will lose their battle with a primary malignant and CNS brain tumor.

· Survival after diagnosis with a primary brain tumor varies significantly by age, histology, molecular markers, and tumor behavior.

· There are more than 120 histologically or molecularly distinct types of primary brain and CNS tumors.

The Need for Support:

The mission of the ABTA is to advance the understanding and treatment of brain tumors with the goals of improving, extending and, ultimately, saving the lives of those impacted by a brain tumor diagnosis.

We do this through interactions and engagements with brain tumor patients and their families, collaborations with allied groups and organizations, and the funding of brain tumor research.

Why ABTA:

Founded in 1973, the ABTA was the first national advocacy organization committed to funding brain tumor research and providing information and education on all tumor types and all age groups. For almost 45 years, the ABTA has been providing comprehensive resources that support the complex needs of brain tumor patients and caregivers, as well as the critical funding of research in the pursuit of breakthroughs in brain tumor diagnosis, treatment, and care.
